Top 15 ANSWERED Questions In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
1. What is Lex's motivation for hating Superman and
metahumans?
"So the day does not come madam when your children are
waving daisies at a viewing stand." - Lex
"The problem of evil with the world. The problem of absolute virtue. The problem of you on top of everything
else. You above all. Ah, cause that's what God is. Horace, Apollo, Jehova, Kal-El, Clark Joseph
Kent. See what we call God depends upon
our tribe, Clark Joe. Cause God is
tribal. God takes sides. No man in the sky intervened when I was a boy
to deliver me from daddy's fist and abominations. I figured out way back, if God is all
powerful, he cannot be all good. And if
he is all good, then he cannot be all powerful.
And neither can you be. They need
to see the fraud you are, with their eyes.
The blood on your hands. And
tonight, they will." - Lex
2. How did Lex
acquire the data on Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman?
"We know Lex has ears inside the Central Intelligence Agency
because Knyazeb knew the CIA was going to be in Africa and Lex knew Lois had
been digging into the experimental rounds.
We know that Lex has acquired footage and files from STAR Labs, banks, convenience
stores, and more. We know that Lex is
running facial recognition software over it because we see Diana’s face get
matched. So, in short, a mountain of
data mined by a premiere tech company is able to uncover insights not available
to general public." -http://www.manofsteelanswers.com/lex-luthor-explained/
How long has it been in his possession?
My answer to this is.....Why does this even matter? But the obvious conclusion would be within
the last 18 months. After seeing
Superman, surely Lex had to wonder what else was out there. And Diana would have likely come sooner if it
had been longer than that.
3. Why is the World
Engine wreckage just left floating in the ocean?
To know Superman is to know that he respects the laws and governments
of the world which is evident in Batman v Superman both in his interaction with
them and with his disapproval of Batman's methods. This is more than enough reason not to enter
foreign territory to remove the world engine.
Add to that the chunks of kryptonite surrounding it and its not hard to
figure out why the World Engine wreckage is left floating in the ocean. As for the Scout ship, the government is
clearly researching its technology as we see in the movie. It's not that big of a leap to assume the government
didn't want Superman to remove it.
4. Why do people
think Superman pulled out a gun and killed people in Africa? Why would Superman need a gun?
This is one of the most ignorant questions I've heard echoed
from people about Batman v Superman.
"The men in the village heard a noise, like the sky cracked
open. He came down. So many dead.
Even worse came after. The
government attacked. No mercy in the
villages. My parents tried to run."
- African Woman
"The world has been so caught up with what Superman can
do, that no one has asked what he should do." - Finch
"Superman acted like some rogue combatant to rescue her
and people died." - Swanwick
No one is suggesting that Superman shot people. The concern is with the collateral damage
caused as a result of Superman's actions.
I can't understand why this is so hard to understand. And the fact that Superman is considered an
American is exactly why the Senate is having a hearing about him, because his
actions reflect on the United States who are then blamed because they are
harboring him.
5. Why does a bombing
in the US Senate turn public opinion against Superman?
Public opinion about Superman is already on the decline due
to the incident in Africa perpetrated by Lex Luthor. Here is another instance where there is
collateral damage due to Superman's presence.
It appears that Wallace was targeting Superman, especially given his
vocal attack of Superman before the hearing saying he is not a hero, and as a
result lives were lost and a monument destroyed. And the fact that Superman didn't stop it
from happening and save those people using his "godly" powers garners
further criticism of Superman. You can
hear the news reporter on the television say "...failed to stop him".
6. Why does Luthor
kill Mercy? Was she originally intended
to be a robot? The film seemed to imply
that she heard Bruce's microphone at Lex's party.
It's a matter of culpability. If one of Lex's own dies, he is less likely
to be suspected. She also knows too much
of his plans which is a risk for Lex.
There is no indication Mercy hears Bruce's ear wig. Fact is Lex already knows Bruce is Batman
when the fundraiser occurs. Mercy is an extension of Lex's eyes and ears. Of course he would
tell her to keep an eye on Bruce during the party.
7. Why did the Wayne
Executives need Bruce Wayne to call and tell them to evacuate the building?
Corporate offices, especially skyscrapers, have safety guidelines
in place that dictate procedures in the event of a catastrophe. Most companies' safety procedures dictate employees
remain in their offices as it is the safest place in most scenarios. You'll notice that until the fight between
Zod and Superman entered the Wayne building, the people were safer there than
in the streets where there was mass hysteria and falling debris.
Bruce Wayne as CEO of the company and with the outside perspective
of the events taking place had the authority and knowledge about the situation
to direct his employees on how to act.
The scene also established the interpersonal relationship Bruce had with
his employees which also gave credence to his questioning why he wasn't told
about the returned checks from Wallace.
8. Why did Superman
let the bad guys get away when first confronting Batman in the Batmobile?
What exactly were these bad guys guilty of that Superman would
have picked up on? They were loading
cargo from the port and transporting it.
Batman is the one who incited the violence and shooting and allowed it
to spread into the streets. And it is
this type of behavior and disregard for public safety why Superman has a
problem with Batman. "Civil liberties
are being trampled on in your city. Good
people living in fear....He thinks he's above the law."
There was no evidence to suggest the men in the LexCorp truck
had done anything illegal to begin with from Superman's perspective other than
responding to Batman's attacks. Once
Batman was out of the way the shooting stopped.
Superman had put an end to the immediate danger. The rest was up to the authorities to handle.
9. Did people at the
underground MMA fight recognize Bruce Wayne or not?
While I agree this scene would have been a good way to showcase
Bruce's disguise, there is nothing farfetched about Bruce being there given its
an "underground" fight. What happenes
in the underground, stays in the underground.
There is absolutely nothing to connect Bruce to Batman. Bruce is a wealthy business man just there to
gamble on fights. Anatoli Knyazev is a
mercenary who does major crimes. It
isn't strange for Batman to infiltrate one of his crimes. Frankly any of the men there could have been Batman
with that sort of logic.
10. Man of Steel
established Superman's X-ray vision, so why doesn't he use it in Batman v
Superman?
Who says he doesn't use it?
We just don't see him use it.
Surely he likely used it to find Lois inside one of the buildings in
Africa given the General had a gun to her head. However X-ray vision isn't something that is
constantly on. He has to consciously use
it. Hence if Batman disappears from
behind a cloud of smoke before Superman uses his X-ray vision he won't see him
anyway.
Assuming Doomsday DOES have X-ray vision, he was essentially
a newborn. He likely did not know he had
X-ray vision or know how to harness it.
Note that Doomsday also doesn't fly so we can assume he doesn't have all
the powers of a Kryptonian especially since the DNA was mixed with a human's
[Lex Luthor's].
At the fundraiser, using his X-Ray vision would have been
too obvious to the people around him, and he wouldn't have been able to see
exactly what Bruce was doing, only that which an X-ray scan would reveal.
11. Is Superman's
future in the DCEU inspired by Superman: The Dark Side, Superman: TAS "Legacy"
and Injustice: Gods Among Us?
Is this even a question that needs to be asked? If so, the answer is yes.
Superman tells Batman in the knightmare, "She was my world, and you took her from me." Later, before Superman sacrifices himself to stop Doomsday, Superman tells Lois that she is his world. Hence we know that it's Lois that is killed. Furthmore it is Lois that is killed in Injustice which causes Superman to snap. Finally, Jimmy Olsen being shot early in the movie is further indication to comic fans that this knightmare vision is a vision of the future, that things are headed in that direction given that Jimmy Olsen was shot at the beginning of Injustice: Gods Among Us. This is why Flash needs to come back to warn Bruce. Flash flat out says "It's Lois. She's the key." So it’s obviously Lois that Flash is talking about which is in line with Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The knightmare vision of the future has elements of all
three: Superman Dark Side, Superman TAS "Legacy", and Injustice Gods
Among Us although Superman Dark Side less so than the other two.
12. Does Lex Luthor
know about Darkseid and Apokolips? If
so, how?
ComicBookMovie.com pretty much answers this question
themselves. The AI in Zod's scout
ship is filled with all sorts of knowledge about alien planets and races and
Lex does tell it to show him everything.
Of course we know from the released deleted scene that Lex sees what is
believed to be either Steppenwolf or Yuga Khan with three Mother Boxes. Lex is also aware of the Mother Boxes from
the Cyborg footage. So yes Lex knows
about Darkseid and Apokolips and he does so because of the AI on the scout ship.
13. How does Lex gain
such a quick understanding of the Kryptonian Matrix and how does he know that
mixing his blood will result in Doomsday?
So this one is also pretty much answered by
ComicBookMovie.com and at the same time isn't.
In the last question it’s acknowledged that Lex tells the AI on the
scout ship to show him everything.
Whenever we don't see Lex on screen it can pretty much be assumed that
he is at the ship learning. The AI is
telling him everything including answer specific questions he has. Lex obviously wanted to create something to
counter Superman. He needed only to ask
the AI anything he wanted to know.
14. Was that a Mother
Box that fused with Cyborg?
The answer to this question is yes, especially given we see
the Mother Boxes from the released deleted scene of Lex in the scout ship. The follow up questions presented in the
blurb are unanswerable at this time.
15. How did Lois
instinctively know that Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman would need the
kryptonite spear when fighting Doomsday?
Imagine you wake up in the morning and open your front
door. You see a big monster out on the
street. Your body reacts in one of two
ways: fight or flight. Assuming your
reaction is to fight, what's the next thing you do? Your answer would likely be to grab the
nearest weapon. Well the nearest weapon
just so happened to be the kryptonite spear.
Now Lois doesn't necessarily know that Doomsday has Kryptonian DNA,
unless she happened to see Doomsday use heat vision and then it wouldn't be too
far of a stretch for her to assume so, but she does know that the spear is a
weapon and that they would need all the help they could to defeat this
thing. Why is this so hard for people to
understand?
